Every year, between June and July, poker players from all over the world gather to take part in the World Series of Poker.
These are the World Poker Championships, a series of extremely prestigious tournaments. Organized in Las Vegas since 1970, they were created on the initiative of the sulphurous Benny Binion. The popularity of the event and the number of registrants has grown steadily, reaching almost 9,000 participants and over $80 million in prize money by 2022. Patrick Bruel was the first Frenchman to reach the WSOP final, in 1998. Famous athletes such as basketball player Tony Parker and footballer Neymar are also regulars.
