GOLDEN NUGGET
Historic hotel transformed into a posh and well appointed residence with an impressive aquarium with sharks.
The Golden Nugget is an exception in Las Vegas. It's the only hotel to combine the historic charm of Downtown with the glitz and glamour of the Strip. This gives it more distinction than most Las Vegas hotels. The famous entrepreneur Steve Wynn has a lot to do with this. Before becoming the owner of the Bellagio, Mirage and Treasure Island, and then founding his eponymous hotel, the Golden Nugget was his first investment in the city of gambling. He transformed the historic hotel, founded in 1946, into a glamorous residence, furnished with gold and marble. When, in 1980, the world's largest gold nugget was unearthed in Australia, nicknamed the "Hand of Faith" (27 kg, 46 cm long), he decided to buy it back for $1 million and display it in the hotel lobby, where it can still be seen today. As you pass through the period casino, you'll notice, through the bay windows, the swimming pool (where even here there are gaming tables!): behind its waterfalls is an imposing aquarium in which sharks evolve. And that's not all... The aquarium is criss-crossed by a transparent slide around which these big, sharp-toothed fish frolic! As for the rest, the Golden Nugget boasts several restaurants, including Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse. This establishment offers magnificent cuts of beef (from 220 grams to over 1 kilogram) in a magnificent setting. The extensive menu is sure to please every taste bud.
