Hotel, classified as a historical monument, in an old hacienda, with a beautiful view, near the entrance to the valley.
Built between 1923 and 1925, this fourteen-room motel is located near the entrance to the valley, in a former hacienda. It could do with some refurbishment, but inside you'll find a veritable opera house, listed as a historic monument! You can visit it every day. Café Amargosa is due to reopen soon. From the hotel, you can enjoy a magnificent sunset over the Amargosa Mountains to the east.

We didn't choose the hotel for its accommodation qualities nor amenities as it lacks both. With this in mind, we got what we expected, an experience in a strange fascinating piece of history in Death Valley! It is falling apart, the old paint of the building is cracked and peels everywhere, and the major hallway stinks mildew! In contrast the bedrooms are clean and mattresses comfortable. Bathrooms are in good shape even though the hot water takes a little adjustment it does work. There is a free coffee station which is the one nice perk and the receptionist was very nice. We took the tour of the opera house, its historic is fascinating, check it out four yourself when visiting Death Valley!

This is the type of place where you want to stay during a road trip. Yes, there is peeling paint but its also 100 years old. Make sure you watch the documentary "Amargosa" before, during or after you stay. The place will stay in your heart ever after. It's worth noting that any money they get will be used to preserving such a historical landmark. The US should preserve these type of histories. I'll be coming back again.

Great place to stay. Now if you are expecting much out of a 100 year old building. Don't come. If you enjoy the possibly haunted and quirky building. You will love it! Little smelly but it does what it needs to do. Would come back!

Unfortunately it seemed closed when we visited. Would love to have seen inside.
