FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARY
A veritable hive of activity with the world's largest collection of genealogies in Salt Lake City.
Upon entering the building, the visitor enters a veritable beehive of activity. This is the home of the world's largest genealogy center, where staff and volunteers can trace your ancestors and roots back nine generations. If you're interested in the experience, you'll be asked to create a Family Search account to begin the process, which is free. If you don't have enough information - for example, if you don't know the place or date of birth of one of your grandparents - you can continue the research at home. There are more than 5,000 Family History Centers in the world, including nearly 40 in France. The information they hold concerns life, censuses, churches, lands and other information of genealogical value. They have been acquired thanks to the cooperation of governments, churches and individuals from all over the world. These archives of humanity are classified in two main banks: Ancestral File and International Genealogical Index.
The Family History Library building is impressive in its size and technology: rooms are dedicated to the recording of memories - aimed at enriching one's profile - while one floor contains a succession of racks with dates and cards. Everything is designed to ensure that you can stay for a long time, between the lunch rooms and the many computers available for free access. Special mention to the reception, particularly attentive.
