Brigham Young built this door in 1859 to mark entry into his property. Every person who passed on had to pay a tax to the prophet. We had to go there to join City Creek Canyon, and the prophet had business sense. The original wooden eagle has been replaced several times. Today, it's a 2-ton bronze eagle. The original wood is kept at the Daubeurs of Utah museum at 300 North Main Street.
