ISLAND IN THE SKY
The most accessible and most visited district in Canyonlands National Park.
This district in the north of the park is the most accessible from Moab (30 miles). It is also the most visited. Its overhanging position and the many lookouts along the scenic route make for exceptional scenery. Grand View Point Overlook (
1,853 m altitude) is at the far end, and Mesa Arch is one of the sites to see along the way. In addition to several hiking trails, there's also White Rim Road, a 4x4 trail over 100 miles long. The northeastern part of this district borders Dead Horse Point State Park.
