The historical archives are located on the waterfront, Kaigan-dōri, in the former British Consulate General. This museum boasts an impressive collection of documents relating to the opening of Japan. It presents documents on the history of Yokohama, from the end of the Edo period to the beginning of the Shōwa period. This is undoubtedly one of the city's most interesting history museums for a foreign visitor, as many explanations are offered in English.
