TEMPLE DAIZENJI
Daizenji Temple, located on a mountainside, belongs to the Shingon school of Buddhism and is also known as the Grape Temple. According to a legend, the temple was founded in 718 after a vision of the priest Gyoki: the Buddha of medicine and healing holding a bunch of grapes. This story is one of the theories of the origin of grape cultivation in Japan. The main wooden building was completed in 1286, making it the oldest preserved building in Yamanashi and the entire Greater Tokyo area. It is a national treasure.
