To-no-shima and Tatchibanajima are called Naka-no-shima. To-no-shima is home to a magnificent 13-storey, 15-metre-high pagoda. It was built at the end of the Kamakura era by the monk Eison of Nara. The pagoda, which had been covered by the river during a flood in 1756, was rebuilt towards the end of the Meiji era. These dikes are famous for the sakura blossom season in early April, and for the Ujigawa cherry blossom festival.
