This sanctuary would have been founded 2100 years ago. There are seven pavilions in the complex. The two main buildings (Higashi-hongu and Nishi-hongu) are classified as National Treasure and have been inscribed on the List of Important Cultural Properties by the Japanese government. There are more than 300 maple trees in the sanctuary gardens, making the place a popular destination in autumn. The Sannosai Matsuri takes place on 13 and 14 April. It is the most important festival of the shrine.
