This garden, which offers a beautiful view of the castle's keep, was built between 1677 and 1684 at the request of Naoaki II, the fourth governor of the Hikone estate. Located in the northeastern part of the castle, Genkyu-en is said to have been named after the name given in China to the gardens belonging to the court. It is a typical garden of the early Edo period. It is organized around a pond, the Rinchikaku Inn and the tea ceremony hall, Hoshodai. Do not hesitate to try the experience for ¥500.
