This temple, founded in 633 by Gien, is associated with the Shingon-Buzan sect. Originally called Ryūgai-ji, the temple is nowadays nicknamed Oka-Dera (the temple on the hill). The statue it houses, representing Nyoirin-Kannon, was made in the 8th century. From the height of its four meters, it is the largest clay statue in the country. It is prayed for to improve its future. The temple is famous for its rhododendron flowers in spring and its colours in autumn. Don't forget to ring the bell of the campanile for your future.
