During this matsuri, the Japanese celebrate the passage from spring to summer in a festive and jovial atmosphere.

It is one of the oldest summer festivals in Japan and one of the three main festivals in Osaka. It celebrates the transition from spring to summer season. The temple celebrated is the Shoman-in Aizen-do. Exceptionally, the deity Aizen-Myoo is shown to everyone. With the first heat, the inhabitants put on their yukata, the light cotton kimono, almost for the first time of the year. Many games, dances, food stalls brighten up this matsuri. The atmosphere is good-natured.
