Ōsaka Tenman-gū is a temple shintō built in the 10th century. However, it has been destroyed many times in fires and the buildings and the door that can be visited today date from the 19th century. The temple is dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, an intellectual who lived during the Heian era (710-1185) and many students come here to pray and buy charms to pass their exams on D-Day. A big festival is held there every year on July 24th and 25th. Nearby is the covered Tenjinbashi-suji main street.
