Since its opening in 2006, on an artificial island south of the city, the airport at Kōbe serves several domestic destinations, such as Tokyo, Sapporo, Nagasaki and Okinawa, to name but a few. From Sannomiya station, in the centre of the city, the Port Liner line takes passengers there in less than 20 minutes. High speed boats connect the airport to Port Island in less than 30 minutes. Since 2018, Kansai Airports Kobe, a subsidiary of Kansai Airports, has been handling the concession of this airport valid until 2060.
