KAZAMIDORI NO YAKATA
This red brick house belonged to a rich German merchant, Gottfried Thomas. He and his family occupied it between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. On the roof is the Kazamidori, a weather vane in the shape of a rooster that gave its name to the mansion. The mansion is located on the heights of Kobe, in the former Kitano district, which was reserved for Westerners when Japan opened up to international trade. It is of Germanic style with period furniture inside. The fireplace is very original, as well as the stained glass windows.
