With the reopening of Japanese ports in 1853, international trade resumed and Chinese merchants settled in Kobe, a city renowned for its prosperity. Over a hundred restaurants and street food stalls selling dimsum, meat buns, gyozas and bubble tea, as well as tea and trinket stores, can be found in two perpendicular streets. The red lanterns and pagodas send us some 3,000 kilometers away from Japan. A beautiful Chinatown.
