Kin no Yu, literally "golden water", is a water rich in iron, sodium chloride and salt. It is recommended, among other things, for muscular pains, sprains and digestive problems. It is one of the oldest onsen in Japan, as it can be traced back to the Edo period. However, the original building was destroyed in 1883 and rebuilt in 1884 in a more modern style. Don't miss the Gin no Yu, meaning "silver water", opened in 2001, which is very rich in sodium carbonate.
