This museum offers an opportunity to discover objects related to the peoples of the northern regions, such as the Ainu, who live along the Sea of Okhotsk. You can try your hand at traditional Ainu paper cutting, or make and play their traditional musical instruments. This building was built as the Hakodate branch of the Bank of Japan around 1926. Some traces of this can be found in the lobby and other rooms of the building.
