Mount Esan, also known as Esan Maruyama, is an active volcano that still spews gas. It rises to 618 meters above sea level. Climbing this stratovolcano on the Kameda Peninsula, which still emits fumaroles, is a fascinating experience! At the end of May, the azaleas are in bloom and can be admired from the park at the foot of the volcano. Don't miss the Esan Azalea Festival. You can climb the mountain by following the walkway from the car park and reach the top in about an hour.
