Called Hokudai Shokubutsen, this beautiful 13-hectare garden is a must-see in the city. It contains more than six thousand varieties of plants and flowers from the island and the rest of the world. The garden is maintained by the university that houses the park. Inside the park, the Ainu museum displays clothing, as well as twenty thousand objects and tools, etc. During the winter, only the greenhouse is open to the public (reduced entrance fee).
