It is the oldest museum of Ainu culture in Hokkaido. It was opened by Kaneto Kawamura. This museum is an important center for the transmission of Kamikawa Ainu culture. It introduces visitors to their culture and history, and offers participatory programs on Ainu culture. Its exhibits contain about 500 objects that show the Ainu way of life and clothing. Dance performances can be seen.
