Ichibancho is the shopping mecca of Sendai, and even of Tohoku. This covered shopping mall connects several streets in the city center. This area is the largest of its kind in the region. It includes a wide range of establishments, from department stores to fashion boutiques, restaurants and souvenir shops. The atmosphere is very relaxed and lively, especially on weekends. On rainy days, Ichibancho becomes a place of salvation. Don't forget the early year sales(hatsu-uri), if you are in Sendai in January.
