Masamune Date's mausoleum is located on a small hill that is called Kyōgamine. Built in 1637, it was destroyed during the Second World War. It was rebuilt exactly as it was before. This lovely mausoleum was recognized as a national treasure in 1931 for its representation of Momoyama cultural traditions. The Momoyama style (1568-1615) gives it a certain splendour. Other buildings, such as the Kansenden, were built for the second and third generations of lords of the Date clan. A pleasant visit.
