HIRASHIMIZU
This pottery village is located on the southeastern outskirts of Yamagata, nestled at the foot of Mount Chitose. It is here that the age-old art of nashi-seiji pottery is produced. The place is peaceful and relaxing, with its narrow valley, stream and small bridges made of planks leading to the houses of the village. Even today, pottery kilns are still in operation. You can even try your hand at this art in a workshop. Shichiemon-gama combines a roughness with a glossy glaze in a gradient. Ideal to buy a souvenir of your trip to Yamagata.
