This 10th-century temple is now part of the Sōtō sect of Zen Buddhism. The temple, most of which was rebuilt in the 19th century, is dedicated to the dragon, the guardian deity of the sea. You can also go to the pond next to the temple and pay a visit to the jinmen-gyo: when you look at them from above, these fish seem to have human faces(jinmen : human face). There are many remarkable buildings among the 21 hectares of the site, including a beautiful five-story pagoda.
