This former residence of the Sakai clan houses in its beautiful buildings a museum of folk art as well as many objects that belonged to this famous family. Among the buildings on display are the former Nishitagawa City Hall, an important cultural asset, a beautiful traditional Japanese house, and the former city police station. More than 5,000 items are on display in this museum, including period tools and folk art. Don't miss the Shoin Garden, typical of the Tohoku region.
