MORIOKA-JO - IWATE-KOEN
This park houses the ruins of the castle, the Kozukata-jō. Built in the very early 17th century by the 27th lord of the Nambu clan, Toshinao, the castle burned down during the civil wars of the 19th century, after the Meiji Restoration. It is included in the government's list of one hundred outstanding Japanese castles. To the northwest of the castle ruins, a cherry tree has grown through a stone: it is the 300-year-old ishiwari-zakura. Its roots are caught in a block of granite. The visit of this site is very relaxing
