HOKOSHA SHRINE
This 1861 Shinto shrine of the Light of the Treasure is reached by a staircase from which one enjoys a magnificent view of the mountains. It stands amidst magnificent ancient cedar trees. The beauty of the surroundings is striking. The enshrined deity is Amenouwaharunomikoto, who is the child of the deity of Chusha. The shrine actually consists of five buildings: Okusha, Chusha, Hokosha, Kuzuryusha and Hinomikosha. This shrine was used as a base for the mountain cult, towards Mount Togakushi. A very spiritual place.
