JARDIN YOKOKAN
This charming and picturesque garden, in the heart of the city, was created during the Edo period. It was the former residence of the Matsudaira family, the clan chief of Fukui. Reduced to ashes by the American bombings, the place has recovered its soul of yesteryear. It was even designated an exceptional national landscape in 1982. The reconstruction of the buildings was inspired by the plans of 1823 for a sublime result. You can contemplate the garden and its assets from the tatami room of the tea pavilion. The walk around the pond is very soothing.
