To the northwest of Fukui, this rugged coastline of basalt cliffs stretches for 1 km, facing the Sea of Japan. This rare geological formation, with its vertical rocks, is a marvel. Their shape has been shaped by years of erosion due to strong waves. One can see the island of Oshima, connected to the mainland by a beautiful red bridge. The place is wild and the protections... non-existent. Legend has it that these rock formations appeared after a corrupt priest was thrown off the cliff by villagers in 1182.
