SANCTUAIRE DE KEHI
This superb sanctuary is dedicated to the worship of the legendary emperor Chuai and seven Shinto deities. It is believed to have been founded in 702 and is considered an important cultural asset of the country's material heritage. This shrine, one of the oldest and most important in the Echizen region, is also built entirely of wood, as are the shrines of Itsukushima (Hiroshima) and Kasuga Taisha (Nara). The huge vermilion-colored torii, which stands at the entrance from the top of its 11 meters, is a "small" wonder.
