TOKUGAWA ART MUSEUM
Magnificent collection of the Tokugawa family including the Genji Monogatari emakimono, which can only be seen every five years. It is the illustrations of a tale written by Takayoshi Fujiwara (12th century). There are only 13 scenes left out of the supposed 80. There is also another collection, Murasaki Shikibu ekotobu, which gathers the notes of the court lady of Heian, who inspired the first novel(Murasaki Shikibu) also attributed to Takayoshi Fujiwara. The museum houses screens of the Edo period, calligraphies and kakemono.
