The station is operated by JR West. All passengers travelling by Shinkansen on the Sanyo line stop here. It is also the station that provides connections between the local lines, Kure, Geibi and Kabe, and serves Hiroshima Prefecture and the Chugoku region. Outside JR Station, there are many trams and buses that allow you to move around the city. Several tourist buses leave every twenty minutes for full city tours. Free if you have a JR pass.
