Located 300 m south of Shukkei Garden, this cathedral was built by Japanese architect Tōgo Murano, with the support of international aid funds at the initiative of Father Hugo M. Enomiya-Lassale. The bricks used in the construction are said to represent the number of victims of the explosion. The organ pipes were donated by the city of Köln (Cologne), Germany. It was one of the first buildings to be classified as an important cultural property after the war.
