Honkawa Elementary School, built in 1928, was Hiroshima's first reinforced concrete school. Located 410 meters from the hypocenter, it was severely damaged by the atomic bomb. Restored and transformed into a peace museum in 1988, the damaged parts of the building bear witness to the horrors of war. The museum displays objects, photos and documents, including a model of Hiroshima in 1945, reminding future generations of the importance of peace.
