The first public museum of modern art in the Archipelago, this museum opened in 1989. The architecture is the work of Kisho Kurokawa. The museum is located 1km south of the station. The entire city can be appreciated from the nearby park, Hijiyama-Kōen. Temporary exhibitions are offered throughout the year. And let's not forget the permanent collection of nearly 1,400 works. After a long period of renovation, the museum reopened in 2023.
