The Archipelago's first public museum of modern art, it opened in 1989. The architecture is by Kisho Kurokawa. The museum is located 1 km south of the station. The whole city can be appreciated from the nearby park, Hijiyama-Kōen. Temporary exhibitions are held throughout the year. And let's not forget the permanent collection of nearly 1,400 works. After a long period of renovation, the museum reopened in 2023.
