VILLAGE DE KAGURA MONZEN TOJIMURA
In the village of Kagura Monzen Tojimura, Kagura performances are performed on stage every week. This traditional Japanese art form features actors dressed in sumptuous costumes, adorned with brocades and highly expressive masks. This theatrical dance was once performed by the Japanese as an offering to the kami deities of the place where they lived. Today, they still express their wishes related to harvests, abundant peaches or good health. There are all kinds of Kagura, but each of them develops a clear and invigorating scenario in which good and evil, as well as various emotions, such as joy, anger, sadness or pleasure, are clearly represented. In a Kagura performance, the actors sing uta laments, dance rounds to the sound of drums, flutes, cymbals and drums. On certain evenings, after the show is over, you can try on Kagura costumes and masks and have your picture taken. There are also hot springs, restaurants and hotels in the village. To get there, there are express buses (about 60 minutes) from the Hiroshima Bus Center to Miyoshi and Shobara. You can get off at the Midori express bus stop, then take a taxi or the Kagura Monzen Tojimura Village shuttle bus. For the latter, you will need to make reservations in advance of your stay in the village.
