OLIVE GROVE
The island is the cradle of olive trees in Japan. Here, the illusion of being on a Mediterranean island is very strong. The buildings painted in blue and white, as on Greek islands, the windmills and the sea around accentuate this impression. An olive tree, now majestic, was planted for the emperor. This island was also the inspiration for Studio Ghibli's famous Kiki the Little Witch, so the park lends out broomsticks with which visitors are invited to take photos. Another anecdote: take a closer look at the 1 yen coin!
