The original bridge was built in 1673, but it was destroyed by a heavy flood in 1950 and rebuilt in 1953. The bridge was, in the Middle Ages, exclusively reserved for the samurai. It is 193.30 meters long and 5 meters wide. Its arches, with a unique curvature, are 35 meters long. It is very photogenic, especially during the cherry blossom season, or hanami. The unique and sophisticated construction of the bridge's arches is renowned for its perfection, even from a contemporary engineering perspective.

A découvrir absolument
