The remnants of this former neighborhood, including the beautiful Kagawa Nagaya-mon gate, have been redeveloped into a park, the Kikko-kōen. It was here, in today's Kikko Park, that the Kikkawa family lived. Here you will find the Iwakuni Historical Museum and the Kikkawa Family Museum, as well as the famous Iwakuni white snakes. These white snakes, messengers of Benten, the goddess of wealth, have been designated a national treasure by the Japanese government.
