This lovely Zen temple is part of the Obaku-shū sect. It is also the temple of the Mōri family, but only odd numbers are buried there. The others are in the Daishō-in. Behind the temple are 500 moss-covered stone lanterns lined up as tokens of loyalty from their vassals. It is in this austere setting that the family's sublime mausoleums rise. This site offers an impressive spectacle and its location in the woods gives it a peaceful and very spiritual atmosphere.
