The Hagi Uragami Museum was founded in 1996 to preserve and exhibit a splendid collection of oriental art donated by entrepreneur Toshiro Uragami. This collection comprises some 5,300 works of ukiyo-e by leading artists such as Utagawa Hiroshige, Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Kuniyoshi, including around 500 oriental ceramics from China and Korea and almost 750 recent potteries. The building was enlarged in 2010 with the addition of a "Pottery" annex to present 400 years of ceramic history.
