The Hagi Uragami Museum was founded in 1996 to preserve and display a splendid collection of oriental art donated by entrepreneur Toshiro Uragami. This collection includes about 5,300 ukiyoe works by leading artists such as Utagawa Hiroshige, Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Kuniyoshi, including about 500 oriental ceramics from China and Korea and nearly 750 recent pottery pieces. The building was expanded in 2010 with the addition of a "Pottery" annex to present 400 years of ceramic history.
