This chapel was built in Otome Tōge in 1951 by a German priest in memory of the Japanese Catholics tortured between 1865 and 1873 in Tsuwano. In 1868, more than 100 underground Christians were sent to Tsuwano from Nagasaki to be converted. But 37 of them refused to comply and were tortured. The stained glass windows of the building tell of their martyrdom. Next to the chapel is a monument with a statue of the Virgin Mary and a man in a cage.
