This temple, located 1 km west of the castle, became the family temple of the Matsudaira clan in 1664, at the instigation of the grandson of Ieyasu Tokugawa. Nine generations of Matsudaira are buried in this place. This place is also called the "hydrangea temple". Thousands of these flowers delight visitors and photographers in June and July. The visitor can enjoy a cup of matcha tea in a beautiful and soothing setting while admiring the magnificent small garden. A very nice visit not to be missed.
