MATSUE CASTLE
Built in 1611 by Lord Horio Yoshiharu, the castle was restored in 1642 and again in 1875. Perched atop a hill, the five-story keep contains the weapons of the daimyō and the armor of the samurai. It became a national treasure of Japan in 2015. Inside the "plover castle", it is a real journey direction the Edo period. You can admire the pillars and staircases, the stone walls and the imposing structures that have not changed for more than four centuries. The surrounding park is absolutely beautiful during the Hanami period.
