This tea pavilion is located directly off Shiomi Nawate Street, the historic street next to the castle. It was built in 1779 by Fumai Matsudaira (1751-1818), daimyō of Matsue. You will notice the two entrances to the pavilion, one low and one high, for high-ranking guests, which is a very personal way of rendering the tea ceremony and its philosophy. From the pavilion, the view of the castle is splendid. You can taste a matcha on the spot.
