SHIMANE ART MUSEUM
This interesting museum opened its doors in 1999. The Japanese architect Kikutake Kiyonori was responsible for the design of the impressive building. The building overlooks Lake Shinji and its sunset, considered as one of the most beautiful in the Archipelago (thanks to the large windows of the building). The museum hosts permanent and temporary exhibitions (you can check the calendar on the website). Japanese artists (Hiroshige, Hokusai...) and European artists (Courbet, Monet, Gauguin, Rodin...) are presented there.
