The museum is in two parts. The first is a long corridor with large picture-frame windows where the gardens can be admired like paintings. The adjoining gardens can be approached but never entered. They have been considered the most beautiful in Japan for over 20 years. The second part is more recent. It features an impressive collection of contemporary Japanese artists (from 1870 to the present day), including works by painter Yokoyama Taikan and ceramists Kanjirō Kawai and Kitaoji Rosanjin. A must-see.
