This superb Ishitani residence was for many years the largest building in the town of Chizu during the Edo period. This priceless example of traditional Japanese architecture is laid out around a large interior garden, which becomes a veritable tableau in autumn. More than 40 rooms, 7 storerooms and other smaller gardens make up the residence. This prefectural architectural masterpiece has been classified as an "important cultural asset". You can enjoy a curry (¥1,000) or soba (¥1,000) here.
